60 year old man rapes teenage granddaughter in Mumbai 60-year-old man allegedly raped his teenage granddaughter in Nalasopara, Mumbai after his daughter left home for work. The man tied the minor girl’s hands and legs before sexually abusing her, as per reports. The man, his daughter and the granddaughter used to stay together for quiet sometime now. In fact, for years, the accused and the granddaughter would stay at home together while the mother left for work, reports the paper. In her complaint, the teenager states that her grandfather threatened her after the abuse and she confided in her mother about the incident on Friday. The paper further reports that the man has been booked for rape and relevant sections of POCSO and has been remanded to police custody by the Vasai court. The victim’s medical examination has confirmed sexual abuse. Despite the public outcry during the Nirbhaya gangrape incident of 2012, and now Kathua rape and murder case not much has changed as far as women’s safety is concerned. As per reports, in 2016, of the 3.38 lakh crime cases against women, 11.5 percent were rape cases. And if you thought this was bad news, there’s worse – according to ADR India, 1581 of sitting legislators have a criminal record, 51 have been involved in crime against women. -PTC News-
