At least nine people have been killed and 20 injured in a car bomb blast in Kabul. A car bomb blast rocked Afghanistan's capital on Sunday morning.
The incident occurred in the Spin Kalay Square, located in the Police District 5 of the national capital.
Interior Minister Masoud Andarabi said the attack wounded around 20 others, including a member of parliament, Khan Mohammad Wardak. He is now stable.
Three vehicles caught fire in the PD 5, though it remains unclear if the explosion is the cause, the Interior Ministry's deputy spokesperson Ferdaws Faramarz has said.
He added that the toll could rise further. The attack happened while the lawmaker's convey was passing through an intersection in Khoshal Khan neighborhood. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
"The terrorist today carried out an attack in PD5 of Kabul city. Children, women and elderly people are among those wounded. Homes around the area have been severely damaged," the ministry said in a statement.
