Afghanistan crisis: India evacuates another 75 Sikhs from Kabul

Afghanistan crisis: The Indian authorities on Monday evacuated another 75 Sikhs amid the deteriorating situation in war-torn Afghanistan. These people are being evacuated from Kabul via Dushanbe and will arrive in India late in the evening, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) chief Manjinder Singh Sirsa said.
"Update from Afghanistan- Another 75 Sikhs are being evacuated today from Kabul via Dushanbe who will arrive in India late night today. We thank PM Office India and Ministry of External Affairs for their massive support," DSGMC chief Manjinder Singh Sirsa said said in a tweet. On August 15, the country's government fell soon after President Ashraf Ghani left the nation. Meanwhile, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs had said the government was committed to ensuring the safe return of all Indian nationals from Afghanistan. Earlier, an Indian Air Force (IAF) C-130J evacuation flight took off from Kabul with over 85 Indians on board on Saturday. India had earlier also picked up its consulate staff from Kandahar after the town was about to be taken over by the Taliban terrorists. The Indian officials from the Kandahar consulate had later stationed themselves in the Kabul embassy and were overseeing work from there.
