Agitating farmers vacate portion of service road at Gazipur border
Farmers protesting against the three farm laws on Thursday vacated a portion of the service road at Delhi's Gazipur border.

The service lane portion of the road goes from Ghaziabad to Delhi. Talking to the media, BKU leader Rakesh Tikait said that the farmers had never blocked the service road at the Ghazipur border, it was the police which blocked the way.
"We never blocked the way, it was the police who did this. We are just clearing the road to make our way towards Parliament to protest against the three farm laws," said Rakesh Tikait. Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court said farmers had the right to protest, but they could not keep roads blocked indefinitely.

The Supreme Court gave three weeks to farmer bodies protesting over the farm laws to respond to a petition seeking directions to the authorities to end blockades of roads connecting NCR regions to the national capital.
A Bench led by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul - which had on September 30 wondered how highways can be blocked perpetually - posted the matter for December 7.
“I am not averse to their right to protest even when a legal challenge is pending. But roads can’t be blocked…Ultimately some solution has to be found,” Justice Kaul noted.
