Air travel likely to become costlier as Jet fuel prices rise by 3.6 percent
Jet fuel prices hike: Air travel in India is likely to become costlier as the jet fuel prices were hiked by oil marketing companies (OMCs) by Rs 2,354 per Kilo litre (kl) or 3.6 percent to Rs 68,262 per kl in Delhi. The hike in jet fuel prices is likely to put more pressure on consumers if these costs are passed on by companies, a report stated. Also Read | Another jolt to common man! Now, LPG cylinder price hiked According to state-run India Oil Corporation, the prices were hiked by 3.6 percent in the national capital. It was for the second time that ATF prices were increased within 15 days on the back of increasing global oil prices. In Kolkata, the aviation fuel prices were hiked by Rs 2,289.38, up by 3.27 percent to Rs 72,295.24 per kl while in Mumbai, it was at Rs 66,482.90 per kl, up by Rs 2,414.25 or 3.77 percent. In Chennai, the fuel rates raised by Rs 2,491.51 or 3.69 percent to Rs 70,011.44 per kl. ATF, earlier on June 16, raised prices by 2.68 percent or Rs 1,790 kl to Rs 65,908.28 per kl. It was after a massive hike of 6.7 percent in jet fuel bringing it to Rs 61,690.28 per kl on May 1. ATF price was cut by 3 percent in April and then again by Rs 568.88 per kl on April 16.
