Akshay Kumar questioned by SIT for two hours on sacrilege, firing incident
The Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing the Sri Guru Granth Sahib sacrilege and Behbal Kalan police firing case recorded the statements of Bollywood star Akshay Kumar at Police Headquarters in Sector 9 on Wednesday.
Akshay’s name was mentioned in the Justice Ranjit Singh (retd) Commission report on sacrilege incidents, which was tabled in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in August this year.
The SIT, headed by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Pramod Kumar, and Inspector General, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, questioned Akshay Kumar as a witness in the incidents for more than two hours.
Akshay Kumar denied meeting Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and former deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal at the actor's flat in Mumbai in 2015.
Earlier,Akshay Kumar had requested the SIT to schedule his questioning in Chandigarh than Amritsar. The SIT had initially summoned him to Amritsar.
Earlier, the SIT had questioned former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in the case.
Summons to Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbr Singh Badal and Akshay Kumar were issued by the SIT last week
