All India motor transport strike ends on Friday after a settlement between AIMTC and Govt The truck operators’ nation-wide indefinite strike, pressing for a charter of demands including slashing of fuel costs which began on 20th July 2018 has finally ended on Friday. After detailed discussions held between AIMTC and Ministry of Road transport & highways, they have agreed on the following points:

  • On the demand of the Government, Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India IRDAI has agreed to discuss the demand to review the premium for the third party insurance of heavy vehicles.
  • Ease of toll collections.
  • Govt will look into the feasibility of extending the coverage of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna to the drivers and co-workers.
  • Strict enforcement against overloading on roads
  • Abolition of TDS Rates
  • Ease of travelling across state borders and highways.
Truckers associated with transporters' union AIMTC remained off road for the eighth consecutive day today across the country to press for their demands even as automakers said they have adjusted their production due to disruption in the supply of components. All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), which claims support of 93 lakh truckers, said its core team in an emergency meeting on Thursday resolved to suspend all operations voluntarily and any attempt to quell it will only foment anger. -PTC NEWS
