Amid COVID-19 pandemic, Lok Sabha session to commence from September 14

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the 4th session of the 17th Lok Sabha will commence on September 14. Subject to the exigencies of Government Business, the Session is likely to conclude on October 1, 2020, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said. Lok Sabha will sit from 9 am to 1 pm on the 1st day of the session i.e. September 14, while it will sit from 3 pm to 7 pm on subsequent days i.e. from September 15 to October 1. Meanwhile, all the Members of Parliament (MPs) will have to undergo a Covid-19 test to attend the session. A gazette notification stated that "In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by clause (1) of Article 85 of the Constitution, I hereby summon the Lok Sabha to meet at New Delhi on Monday, the 14th September 2020 at 9.00 am", attributing it to President Ram Nath Kovind. Reportedly, the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs had recommended that monsoon session be held from September 14 to October 1.
