Bangladesh government has decided to enforce a seven-day lockdown from April 5 as coronavirus cases and deaths continue to surge across the country, the Bangladesh media reported on Saturday.
According to the information, the Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader revealed this while giving information about coronavirus lockdown in Bangladesh.

Quader made the announcement during a regular briefing from his residence in the morning.
Meanwhile, the offices and court will be closed during the lockdown while the industries and mills will continue to operate on a rotational basis, the State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain had said.

Also, the emergency services will be exempted from the restrictions imposed during the lockdown in the country.
Earlier on March 25 in 2020, the government had declared a 10-day shutdown which was later extended several times to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Later after June, the lockdown was relaxed after the number of coronavirus cases and deaths started declining.
Currently, the number of daily cases and deaths have started rising suddenly over the past several days while the numbers were reaching new highs every day.
On Friday, Bangladesh reported 6,830 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours with a single-day infection rate of 23.28 percent. The total number of coronavirus cases has reached 6,24,594 in the country.
