BSF seizes 17 kg of heroin in Ferozepur

The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized 17 kg of heroin, two weapons and three magazines in Ferozepur on Sunday. The BSF also seized 26 live cartridges.  BSF launched a special search operation after it observed a suspicious movement along the security fence in the Karma post.

Inspector General, BSF Punjab Frontier Mahipal Yadav, considering the vulnerability of the border due to fog and smog, has issued the operational guidelines to strengthen the border security to check the illegal activities on the border. The Inspector General also directed the field commanders to maintain an extra vigil to prevent any attempt of the anti-national elements.

According to the media reports, BSF troops have seized 221.3 kg of heroin, 435 grams of opium this year on the Punjab border. BSF has also arrested 66 people for illegally crossing the border. According to the official statement, “as many as 31 Pakistani SIM cards were recovered by the BSF, while five two Pakistani smugglers were apprehended. Furthermore, two Pakistani smugglers were interdicted. Apart from this, 10 mobile phones from Pakistan were seized."

This year, BSF has also recovered 19 different types of weapons, 502 rounds of ammunition so far.
