Chandigarh: Woman journalist stalked, molested on morning walk

Chandigarh: In another disturbing incident, a  45-year-old woman journalist was stalked, molested and assaulted near PN Mehra Botanical Garden on Monday. The victim was on morning walk where the suspect, who was in his 40s molested her. However, the suspect managed to escape.

The victim has claimed that she would  identify the accused if produced before her. Also, the sketch is being made following the description of the victim. The incident took place at around 7:20 am.

The victim informed the police that she had spotted the accused two days ago as well. Meanwhile, the police has registered a case of stalking, molestation and assault. To this, a police officer said that "During her morning walk, she moved towards the area full of trees and bushes. A man, who was behind the victim, chased her and grabbed her from behind. To this, the woman shouted for help."

The police also added that "She threatened the accused to click his photo on her mobile. She tried but failed. The man assualted her and escaped. The victim went to her house and told everything about the incident to her husband. Afterwards, the husband informed the police about it. An FIR was registered over the statement of the victim." Meanwhile, a DSP-rank police officer is deployed to monitor the investigation.
