3 Army personnel injured in terrorist firing on security camp in Assam’s Tinsukia district
Attack took place around 12.30 am when terrorists fired multiple rounds at Kakopathar Company location from a moving vehicle
PTC Web Desk: Three Indian Army personnel sustained minor injuries after terrorists opened fire on a security forces’ camp in the Kakopathar area of Assam’s Tinsukia district early Friday, a defence spokesperson said.
According to the official, the attack took place around 12.30 am when terrorists fired multiple rounds at the Kakopathar Company location from a moving vehicle. The alert troops immediately retaliated while taking necessary precautions to prevent any harm to nearby civilian houses.
“The terrorists fled the area after carrying out speculative firing using automatic weapons in response to the Army’s effective retaliation,” the spokesperson stated.
He further confirmed that apart from minor abrasions suffered by three personnel, there were no major injuries reported. The entire area has been sanitised, and a joint search operation with the police is underway to trace the attackers.
Kakopathar lies close to the interstate border between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, a region where security forces have been maintaining heightened vigilance in recent months.
