PTC Web Desk: The mysterious case of two police suicides in Haryana has taken a disturbing turn, with fresh allegations of corruption, caste-based discrimination, and links to an infamous gangster. The controversy began with the death of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, whose suicide note has triggered a storm within the state police department.

Kumar was found dead at his Chandigarh residence on October 7, having allegedly shot himself. In an eight-page suicide note, he accused 10 senior and retired police officers of subjecting him to “blatant caste discrimination, targeted mental harassment, and public humiliation.” His death shocked the police fraternity and sparked calls for a detailed inquiry into his allegations.

A week later, another tragedy struck when Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Lathar, who was investigating a corruption case against Kumar, also took his own life in Rohtak. Sandeep Lathar reportedly shot himself in a field using his service revolver. In his three-page suicide note, he described Kumar as a “corrupt officer” who ended his life out of fear of being exposed.

The case took an explosive turn when Lathar alleged that Kumar had entered into a Rs 50 crore deal with gangster Rao Inderjit to help clear his name from a murder investigation.

According to Lathar’s note, Rao Inderjit is a wanted gangster facing several criminal cases in Haryana. He is currently believed to be in the United States to evade Indian law. Inderjit allegedly works for the Himanshu Bhau gang and also owns the Gems Music label.

His name has surfaced in several major incidents, including the murder of financier Manjeet in Rohtak, a firing incident outside YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s house, and an attack on Haryanvi singer Rahul Yadav alias Fazilpuria.

The twin deaths and the serious charges made in both suicide notes have sparked widespread concern. Police officials have initiated internal inquiries, but the case has exposed the deep-rooted issues of corruption, discrimination, and criminal nexus within the Haryana police force.
