Mid-air scare: Srinagar-bound Indigo flight makes emergency landing in Varanasi due to fuel leak

PTC News Desk: An IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Srinagar made an emergency landing in Varanasi on Wednesday after the crew detected a fuel leak, officials said.
The aircraft, flight 6E-6961, was carrying 166 passengers and crew when it landed safely at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport at 4:10 pm.
All passengers were evacuated safely and moved to the terminal, with no injuries reported. According to airport and police officials, the pilot alerted Air Traffic Control (ATC) upon detecting the leak, after which emergency landing clearance was granted. The crew managed to land the plane safely under controlled conditions.
Technical teams have launched an investigation into the cause of the leak, while airport operations have returned to normal.
The aircraft will resume its journey to Srinagar once inspections and repairs are completed.
