Punjab man among two arrested after major drug consignment seized at Gujarat-Rajasthan border

The police have recovered 4.83 grams of opium and 211.81 grams of heroin. Besides drug, a car worth ₹13 lakh was also seized.

PTC News Desk: In a significant breakthrough, a major drug consignment has been seized on the Gujarat-Rajasthan border during regular patrolling and vehicles check. Tharad police arrested two individuals from Punjab and Maharashtra who were allegedly trafficking opium and heroin. Drugs worth over ₹13 lakh were confiscated from them. 


The police have launched investigation into the matter to identify others involved in the drug syndicate. 



According to information, Tharad Police were conducting vehicle checks near Vadtav village on the Bharatmala Road. During this operation, a car coming from Sanchore was stopped. Upon inspection, a suspicious substance was found inside the vehicle, following which the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was informed. After testing, the FSL confirmed that the seized substances were opium and heroin. The two men in the car were then taken into custody.


The police have recovered 4.83 grams of opium and 211.81 grams of heroin. Besides drug, a car worth ₹13 lakh was also seized.


The arrested individuals have been identified as Satnam Singh Pawar from Maharashtra and Avtar Singh Sindhu from Punjab. A case has been registered at Tharad Police Station. Preliminary investigation revealed that both accused were transporting the narcotics from Punjab to Mumbai.
