PTC News Desk: With Bihar Assembly elections round the corner, at lease five voters from the state were taken aback after finding themselves as 'dead' on the draft voter list.

On Friday, the affected villagers from booth number 216 approached Block Development Officer (BDO) Arvind Kumar with a memorandum titled, “Sir, we are alive.”

The voters listed as “deceased” are Mohan Sah (Serial No. 2), Sanjay Yadav (Serial No. 175), Ramroop Yadav (Serial No. 211), Narendra Kumar Das (Serial No. 364), and Vishnvar Prasad (Serial No. 380).

Led by social worker Indradev Mandal, the group expressed concern that the clerical error could prevent them from casting their votes in the upcoming elections.

In response, BDO Arvind Kumar assured swift corrective action and directed the Booth Level Officer (BLO) to complete Form-6 to restore their names to the voter list, emphasizing that no eligible voter would be denied the right to vote.

A similar issue was previously reported in Dumri village of Bagahi Panchayat, Champaran, where 15 people were incorrectly listed as “dead.” In another instance, the names of deceased individuals, including Sonia Sharan (who died in 2018) and her son Manit Mani (who passed away in February 2025), were still present on the voter roll.

The 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with vote counting scheduled for November 14.
