PTC News Desk: Former model-turned-actor Twisha Sharma, a woman from Noida who died at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12 amid allegations of dowry harassment, was cremated on Sunday after a second post-mortem examination was completed by a team of doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Emotional scenes were witnessed at Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat, where her last rites were performed after 5 pm. Twisha’s mother and other family members broke down during the funeral rituals.

The second post-mortem was ordered by the High Court on Friday after Twisha’s family raised doubts about the initial autopsy report and the circumstances surrounding her death. A four-member team of senior AIIMS Delhi doctors reached Bhopal on Saturday night and conducted the fresh examination on Sunday morning.

Twisha, an MBA graduate and former Miss Pune title holder from the Greater Noida region, had married Samarth Singh in December 2025. She was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, just five months after her marriage.

Her family accused Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh of dowry harassment, mental abuse, and torture. They alleged that demands for dowry continued even after the wedding and that Twisha was repeatedly taunted over the marriage arrangements.

On the other hand, Giribala Singh and her family claimed that Twisha died by suicide and alleged that she had been struggling with mental health and possible substance-related issues. However, these claims were reportedly not confirmed in the initial post-mortem findings.

Samarth Singh had been absconding before being arrested in Jabalpur on May 22. A Bhopal court later sent him to seven days of police custody on Saturday. Police had earlier announced a reward of ₹30,000 for information leading to his arrest.

His lawyer also submitted his passport before the court. Following the arrest, the Bar Council of India suspended Samarth Singh’s licence to practise law.
