Twisha Sharma death case:  The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday told the Madhya Pradesh High Court that former judge Giribala Singh needed to be questioned in custody in connection with the death case of actor-model Twisha Sharma.

Opposing her anticipatory bail, the CBI accused Giribala Singh of trying to damage Twisha’s image and claimed that serious allegations had surfaced during the investigation.

According to the agency, Twisha had injuries on her wrist and elbow, but her in-laws had not explained how she received them. The CBI also told the court that medical reports suggested the injuries did not happen while the body was being taken down.

The agency further informed the court that WhatsApp chats recovered during the investigation showed that Giribala Singh and Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh had questioned her character after she became pregnant.

The CBI alleged that Twisha was later forced to undergo an abortion after claims were made that the unborn child belonged to someone else.

The agency also mentioned witness statements alleging dowry harassment. According to the CBI, there were complaints that the dowry given during the marriage was “not up to their standard”.

The CBI further accused Giribala Singh of trying to influence the case by sharing a selective video clip on social media. The agency said only a small part of the recording was leaked online to shape public opinion.

After hearing the matter, the Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled the anticipatory bail earlier granted to Giribala Singh. Vacation judge Devnarayan Mishra set aside the May 15 order passed by a Bhopal sessions court that had protected her from arrest.

Senior advocate Anurag Shrivastava, appearing for Twisha’s family, welcomed the decision and said justice had finally been served.

He also said that since Giribala Singh had spent 36 years in the judiciary, she should surrender before the CBI and cooperate with the investigation.

Earlier in the day, a Bhopal court sent Samarth Singh to CBI custody. Later, the investigation team took him to Giribala Singh’s residence in the Katara Hills area as part of the ongoing probe.

The CBI officially took over the investigation on Monday. Twisha Sharma was allegedly found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12. The agency later re-registered the FIR filed by Madhya Pradesh Police and named Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh as accused in the case.
