PTC Web Desk: In a dramatic political development, all ministers in the Gujarat government, except Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, tendered their resignations on Thursday, paving the way for a major Cabinet expansion expected on Friday.

The current Gujarat Cabinet included 17 ministers, among them eight Cabinet-rank ministers and eight ministers of state (MoS). With the Chief Minister being the only member not to step down, the move signals a significant reshuffle in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government.

According to officials, around 10 new ministers are likely to be inducted when Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unveils his new Cabinet. Sources said nearly half of the existing ministers could be replaced as part of the reorganisation effort.

Under constitutional provisions, Gujarat,  which has a 182-member legislative Assembly,  can have a maximum of 27 ministers, representing 15 percent of the total strength of the House.
