Tarn Taran bypoll: Five candidates withdraw nominations; 15 remain in the fray

After the scrutiny of nomination papers, 20 candidates were found eligible

PTC Web Desk: A total of five candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers for the upcoming byelection to the Tarn Taran Assembly constituency in Punjab, leaving 15 candidates in the contest.

According to a spokesperson from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, the candidates who withdrew their nominations today are Harpal Singh, Nirmal Kaur, Gurmeet Kaur, Sarika Jaura, and Harpreet Singh.

The spokesperson further informed that after the scrutiny of nomination papers, 20 candidates were found eligible. Following the withdrawal of five nominations, 15 candidates will now contest the bypoll.

The final list of candidates includes: Sukhwinder Kaur (Shiromani Akali Dal), Harjit Singh Sandhu (BJP), Harmeet Singh Sandhu (AAP), Karanbir Singh (Congress), Sham Lal Gandhi (Sachho Sach Party), Naib Singh (Nationalist Justice Party), Arun Kumar Khurmi Rajput (Independent), Harpal Singh Bhangu (Independent), Harbarinder Kaur Usman (Independent), Advocate Komalpreet Singh (Independent), Jaswant Singh Sohal (Independent), Neetu Shatran Wala (Independent), Mandeep Singh (Independent), Mandeep Singh Khalsa (Independent), and Vijay Kumar (Independent).

Polling for the Tarn Taran Assembly byelection will be held on November 11, from 7 am to 6 pm, and the counting of votes will take place on November 14.
