PTC News Desk: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to Punjab government to submit its response in two weeks to a petition filed by senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia, seeking anticipatory bail.
Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya issued directions on Majithia's plea in connection with a case registered on July 31 under the provisions of the BNS at the civil lines police station in Amritsar.
The case been deferred till September 23.
An Amritsar court had earlier dismissed the bail application filed by Bikram Singh Majithia. He is currently lodged in Patiala's new Nabha jail.
His counsel has contended that the case was politically motivated and Majithia was falsely being implicated in multiple cases in order to keep him incarcerated.
The vigilance bureau arrested Majithia on June 25 in disproportionate assets case. Earlier on August 25, a trial court dismissed his plea seeking anticipatory bail following which Majithia moved Punjab and Haryana High Court to seek relief.
