Armed robbers loot Jalandhar jewellery shop in broad daylight; incident caught on CCTV | Watch

PTC Web Desk:  In a shocking daylight robbery, three armed and masked men looted a jewellery shop in Jalandhar’s Bhargav Camp area on Thursday morning. The incident, which took place at Vijay Jewellers, was captured on the shop’s CCTV cameras.

As per the CCTV footage, the robbers entered the shop armed with a pistol and a sword. As soon as they entered, they pointed the pistol at the jeweller’s son, Deepak, who was present at the counter. Panicked by the sudden attack, Deepak ran towards the other side of the shop while the robbers began threatening him with weapons.

The robbers demanded cash and jewellery, repeatedly intimidating Deepak with the pistol and sword. In fear for his life, Deepak handed over a bundle of cash from the drawer to the assailants. However, the robbers were not satisfied and proceeded to break the glass counters with the sword, taking away most of the gold ornaments displayed inside.

One of the robbers reportedly attempted to fire a shot, but the weapon misfired. Within minutes, the assailants filled their bags with jewellery and cash before fleeing the scene. The shop owner, Vijay, later claimed that the robbers escaped with more than Rs 2 lakh in cash along with gold ornaments.

After the robbers fled, Deepak rushed outside and raised the alarm. Local shopkeepers tried to chase the culprits but failed to catch them. Police arrived at the scene soon after receiving information and have begun an investigation.

Police officials said that CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the robbers and that all possible angles, including prior surveillance by the gang, are being investigated.
