Three injured after inmates clash inside Kapurthala jail, police resort to lathi-charge

PTC News Desk: Punjab’s Kapurthala Central Jail witnessed tense scenes late Saturday night after a clash broke out between two groups of inmates inside the prison, leaving three prisoners injured.
According to reports, the fight began over the shifting of barracks. The argument quickly turned violent, and some inmates allegedly set ablaze different parts of the jail. Carrying burning torches, several prisoners climbed onto the rooftops and also recorded videos of the incident.
As the situation worsened inside the high-security jail, resulting high-voltage clash between prison authorities and inmates. To bring the situation under control, officials reportedly used tear gas shells and also fired shots. Several videos of the incident have gone viral on social media.
