India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025: Rs 7 lakh fine to possible jail, Dubai polices massive clamp down ahead of match
This will be their second clash of the year, after India defeated Pakistan in the Champions Trophy group stage at the same venue.
PTC News Desk: India and Pakistan will face off on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium in a Group A fixture of the 2025 Asia Cup, reigniting one of cricket’s fiercest rivalries.
This will be their second clash of the year, after India defeated Pakistan in the Champions Trophy group stage at the same venue. It also marks the first clash between the two sides since the Pahalgam terror attack in April, which triggered a military standoff and further strained ties between the neighbours.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations at Dubai Police and head of the ESC, said that special units have been deployed for the high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan, and further vowed prompt action against any disturbances and cautioned that threats to public safety would invite strict legal action.
With tensions running high, Dubai Police and the Events Security Committee (ESC) have issued stringent guidelines for spectators attending the match.
Under the Federal Law on the Security of Sports Facilities and Events, violations could result in heavy fines and even imprisonment. Entering the pitch without authorization or bringing banned items—such as fireworks, flammable materials, lasers, umbrellas, large cameras, selfie sticks, sharp objects, glass items, toxic substances, flags, banners, pets, or remote-controlled devices like scooters and drones—can lead to one to three months in jail and fines ranging from Dh5,000 to Dh30,000 (₹1.2–7.2 lakh).
Acts of violence, throwing objects, or using racist or abusive language could also invite penalties of up to Dh30,000 and possible jail terms.
