Squadron Leader Siddharth Vashisht cremated with full military honours

The Indian Air Force pilot, Squadron Leader Siddharth Vashisht, who was killed in a helicopter crash at Budgam on Wednesday, was cremated with full military and state honours in Chandigarh on Friday. He was cremated at Sector 25 Cremation Ground.

Thousands of people from all walks of life attended his funeral. On Thursday, the mortal remains of Siddharth Vashisht were airlifted to Chandigarh. On its arrival at the Chandigarh Air Force Station, the senior officers paid their tributes to him. They laid wreaths on the coffin. Family members of the Siddharth Vashisht were also present at the wreath-laying ceremony.

Following the ceremony, the body was then transported to his parents’ house situated in Sector 44. A large number of family members, relatives and friends gathered there to pay their last respects. Also, UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore, Adviser to UT Administrator Manoj Parida, UT DGP Sanjay Beniwal and SSP Nilambari Vijay reached there to pay their last respect to the departed officer.

Siddharth Vashisht is survived by his wife Aarti ( an air force officer) and a two-year-old son.
