Bengaluru techie shocked after receiving tile instead of Rs 1.86 lakh Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 from Amazon | Watch

PTC Web Desk: What was meant to be a happy moment turned into shock for a Bengaluru-based software engineer after he unboxed his much-awaited Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 priced at a hefty Rs 1.86 lakh only to find a piece of tile inside.
The incident occurred earlier this month and came to light on Thursday. The victim, identified as 43-year-old Premanand, had placed the order for the premium foldable smartphone on Amazon on October 14. To ensure transparency, he recorded the entire unboxing process on video. It proved crucial when the delivery turned out to be a scam.
Upon discovering the fake item, Premanand promptly lodged a complaint through the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) and later approached the local police.
Following his complaint, the Kumaraswamy Layout Police registered a case under Section 66(d) of the Information Technology Act for cheating by personation and under Sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deal with offences related to cheating involving valuable property.
Police officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to identify how and where the fraud occurred. The incident adds to a growing list of e-commerce scams in India. Earlier this month, the Gurugram police arrested four persons accused of stealing Bengaluru-bound Amazon parcels.
