Amritsar: Officials of Customs (preventive) Commissionerate seized 3.3324 kg gold worth Rs 1.30 crore at Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport from two passengers aged 26 and 28 years. Dipak Kumar Gupta, commissioner, Customs, Amritsar, said, "One of them hails from Tarn Taran, while the other is from Patiala. They used a unique method to smuggle the gold, which was found in the form of wires in many items, including toys." Kumar said both passengers arrived from Dubai by an Air India flight. The gold was also found inside small speakers. Besides, customs officials found six bracelets, which appeared to be gold. The officers seized 24-carat gold weighing 1.66 kg worth Rs 64.5 lakh from a passenger. His co-passenger was caught with 1.67 kg gold worth Rs 65.5 lakh. The items were seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. Further investigations are on. -PTC News
