Avian Influenza virus or Bird Flu Case in Human in China: In a shocking development, a 41-year-old man in China's eastern province of Jiangsu has been confirmed as the first human case of H10N3 strain of bird flu (avian influenza virus), China's National Health Commission (NHC) said on Tuesday. The man has been identified as a resident of the city of Zhenjiang. He was hospitalized on April 28 as he had developed fever and other symptoms, the NHC stated. Reportedly, the man was diagnosed with H10N3 avian influenza virus on May 28, it said, however, it denied giving further details on how the man was infected with the virus. H10N3 strain of bird flu (avian influenza virus) is a low pathogenic, or relatively less severe, and the risk of it spreading on a large scale was very low, the NHC said. However, the man is said to be stable and is set to be discharged from the hospital. His close contacts were not found infected.
