Army Air Defence celebrated its 27th Raising Day at Chandimandir on Friday. The solemn occasion was marked by wreath laying ceremony at “Veer Smriti” where Major General RS Thakur, Major General Army Air Defence, Headquarter Western Comd alongwith serving officers, JCOs and Jawans of Army Air Defence paid rich tributes to the martyrs for their selfless and supreme sacrifice.
The Army Air Defence warriors have displayed exceptional courage and valour during various operations and have been awarded with large number of individual gallantry awards. During Indo-Pak conflict in 1971, four Air Defence Regts were conferred with honour titles i.e. Chhamb, Samba, Amritsar Air field and Basantar River.
Lieutenant General RP Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command extended his greetings to all ranks, their families and veterans of the Corps on this day. He commended the professionalism displayed by Army Air Defence personnel in discharge of their duties, and always living up to their illustrious motto of ‘Akashe Shatrun Jahi’.
