Arun Jaitley writes to PM Modi, opts out of new Cabinet citing health reasons
Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting to not be part of any responsibility in the new government. Jaitley has been ill for the past few months and in February this year, had returned from the US where he had gone for medical treatment. During this period, he had temporarily relinquished the Finance Minister’s position. Here is the letter written by Arun Jaitley

Jaitley has been one of the most important ministers in the Modi administration, often acting as the chief troubleshooter.
When Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, he had given Jaitley the responsibility of handling Finance, Defence and Information & Broadcasting portfolios.
