Ashim Banerjee Coronavirus Death: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's brother Ashim Banerjee passed away at the age of 60 on Saturday due to Covid-related complications at a hospital in Kolkata.
Dr. Alok Roy, chairman of Medica Superspecialty Hospital in Kolkata said that Ashiim Banerjee had tested positive for coronavirus and was undergoing treatment.

The last rites will be held on Saturday afternoon as per Covid protocols.

West Bengal reported 20,846 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the state's caseload to over 10.94 lakh.
Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal tweeted: "My deepest condolences to Mamata Banerjee Ji on the untimely demise of her younger brother Ashim Banerjee. May God grant you the strength to bear this irreparable loss."
On the death of Mamata Banerjee's brother Ashim, Harsimrat Kaur Badal tweeted: "I offer my heartfelt condolences to Mamata Didi on the demise of her younger brother Ashim Banerjee. May the Almighty grant strength to the bereaved family in this hour of grief."
Likewise, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot stated that "My heartfelt condolences on the untimely demise of brother of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Ji. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family... May God give them strength to bear this loss and may the departed soul rest in peace."
