Asian Games: India to defend gold in men's hockey

Asian Games: India to defend gold in men's hockey Defending champions India, Korea, Japan, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong China have been placed in pool A of men's hockey competition of the 18th Asian Games Jakarta Palembang to be held from August 18 to September 2.

India, Korea, Thailand, Kazakhstan and Indonesia have been placed in pool B of women's section.  China, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong China and Chinese taipei figure in pool A of women;s section.
According to draw released by the Asian Hockey Federation on approval by the International Hockey Federation, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Thailand and Indonesia are placed in pool B of men's hockey competition.
Indian women's hockey team will take on the hosts Indonesia in its first match on August 19 while India men take on Hong Kong China on August 22.
Indian women's hockey team then plays Kazakhstan on August 21, Korea on August 25, and  Thailand on August 27.
In the men's section, India will play Japan on August 24, Korea on August 26, and Sri Lanka on August 28.
While women semi-finals will be played on August 29, men's semifinals will be played on August 30.
The gold medal match in women's section has been scheduled for August 31 while in men's section, the gold medal will be played on September 1.
