Auto Driver, Irfan arrested in the 22 year old gang rape by UT Police.
He had pre-planned the gang rape along with the other two accused. They picked the victim from 36-37 lights and had planned the crime completely before hand. They stopped the auto on slip road in sector 53 and raped her, says Nilambari Jagdale SSP Chandigarh.
The other two accused in the rape case are still on the run, and the police is looking out for them rigorously. Both the accused are living in Zirakpur for some time now and our teams are on the run, she added.
Irfan has a wife and 4 kids. He was brought to the police station and he then confessed of the crime thereon.
The auto no was - CH 78 T 2740, she said.
The victim was allegedly gang-raped by three men after she hired a shared auto-rickshaw to go back to her paying guest accommodation in Mohali town, adjoining Chandigarh.
The police got the CCTV footage of the auto-rickshaw and its driver from a gas station in Sector 42 where the vehicle had stopped to get CNG refuelled. The pictures of the accused from this footage will be used on reward posters, which will be put up across the city.
