Azlan Shah Hockey: Korea completes league round with a win over Japan

For Japan it was the last chance to assert its supremacy as Asian Games champion. It started well and held Korea to a score of 2-2 till 57th minute. However, in last three minutes, Japan, instead of fighting back, conceded two goals in the 57th and 58th minutes to end with its fourth defeat.
Marata Kazuma who scored both the goals for Japan gave his team lead in the 15th minute before two of Korea’s trusted scorers – Jang Jonghyun and Lee Namyong – played their role so well to make the score 2-2.
Jang Jonghyun and Sukhoon Cho then scored superb goals, first from a penalty corner, and then a field goal to clinch the issue for Korea. Interestingly of the six goals in the game, three came from penalty corners. Jang Jonghyun scored in almost every game. Today he scored both his goals from penalty corners.
In the gold medal match tomorrow India will have to watch him closely as he has been emerging as a dreadful drag flicker.
