Barnala : 40-year-old debt- ridden farmer committed suicide
A 40-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide in Cheema village in Barnala apparently due to crop failure and debt burden on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Joginder Singh (40). Joginder Singh committed suicide by consuming pesticide at his residence, police officials said.
Joginder Singh , who owned 2 acres of agriculture land at Cheema , had suffered losses due to drop in crop production and was under debt of Rs 6 lakh.
Meanwhile, the police has registered a case in the matter. Further probe was underway, police said.
