Basavaraj Bommai sworn-in as Karnataka's 11th chief minister
Basavaraj Bommai was sworn in as Karnataka's 11th chief minister on Wednesday. The caretaker chief minister BS Yediyurappa had declared Bommai as his successor on Tuesday. A final decision was taken during a legislative party meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Capitol Hotel in Bengaluru earlier on Tuesday. Basavaraj Bommai (61) had earlier held multiple key portfolios including Home, Law and Parliamentary Affairs. Now, he has got his elevation to the top post. It was backed by KS Eshwarappa, R Ashok, Govind Karjol, and the other MLAs. It is pertinent to mention that Dharmendra Pradhan and Kishan Reddy are Union Cabinet ministers. Arun Singh is the BJP's national general secretary in-charge of Karnataka and Rajasthan. At least 40 BJP MLAs from Karnataka met Basavaraj Bommai prior to the Legislative Party meeting. Bommai emerged as one of the frontrunners for the post of the chief minister. Basavaraj Bommai is the son of SR Bommai. He is going to be the 11th chief minister of Karnataka. -PTC News
