Bathinda, October 08: The young generation of Punjab is continuously drowning in the sixth river of drugs flowing in state. The daily death count of young people dying due to drug overdose is a matter of great concern. Also Read| Delhi Police arrest mastermind in Mohali RPG attack case In Bathinda’s Bhai Bakhtaur village a board that read, “ Drugs are sold here” was put up by local resident Lakhveer Singh to grab attention of administration who were ignoring the drug menace in the area since a long time . This video of the same went viral on social media. After this, the police vigil opened early today and turned the entire area into a police cantonment. Unexpected checking was done by the police in those villages of Bathinda district where drug-selling boards were put up. In view of drug smuggling, the police sealed the villages and raided the area. SSP Bathinda said that he had been receiving reports about these villages for some time that few people were not stopping sale of drugs. Due to this, checking was done on a large scale in this area on Saturday so that drug smugglers, root cause of drug abuse in Punjab could be caught red-handed.
