Beas Rape Case: NCPCR to probe rape and fix responsibility for lapses, says Harsimrat Kaur Badal

Beas Rape Case: Union food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Thursday said that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) had constituted a team to probe the ghastly rape of a girl studying in the second standard and that the team would visit the school soon to fix responsibility for lapses by the school management besides ensuring safety of students in future.

In a statement here, Harsimarat Kaur Badal said it was shocking that despite four days having passed no action had been initiated against the school management for trying to cover up the gruesome crime nor against police officers who had assisted the management in this in-human task.

The union minister said she approached NCPCR Chairman Priyank Kanoongo today to ensure a fair inquiry could be initiated against the school management which tried to hush-up the crime by refusing to acknowledge it had happened.

She said she appraised the NCPCR head about the non-cooperative attitude of the school management which did not even provide CCTV footage to the parents of the victim. “The NCPCR Chairman has assured me that it will hold a thorough inquiry into the incident and recommend strict action against all those responsible for impinging of the rights of the victim”.

Meanwhile Badal also requested chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh to take stern action against the Principal of the Beas school as well as police officers who had failed to do their duty and even tried to pressurize the victim family not to go ahead with its complaint. https://www.ptcnews.tv/caa-protests-scuffle-between-abvp-nsui-students-at-panjab-university-chandigarh/

The guilty police officers should be dismissed from service immediately”. She also asked the chief minister to pass an order making it mandatory for all schools to post maids/lady staff in all kindergarten and junior school toilets to ensure the safety of young children. She said besides this only designated drivers and conductors should be allowed to man school buses and they should carry identity cards at all times.

The Bathinda MP also requested the chief minister to form a special commission to probe all cases of crime against women and minor girls which had occurred in the recent past. “There has been a spike in such cases due to increased goondaism much of which is due to the free run given to gangsters by Congress ministers and legislators."

She said recent incidents of crime against women and minors was shocking be it heinous murder of drug inspector Neha Shorey in Mohali and lady teacher in Kharar, numerous rapes of minors in Jalalabad, Kapurthala, Talwandi Sabo and Patiala including rape of a four year old girl in Dhuri to gang rape of a woman in Bathinda and rape of woman complainant in a moving car by cops, she added. -PTC News
