Bhopal Railway Station Bridge Collapse: In a major incident, at least eight people were injured after a portion of the shed on an over-bridge at the Bhopal railway station collapsed on passengers waiting on the platform on Thursday morning.
The incident took place at around 9 am when the slab of a ramp connecting the foot-over bridge between platform number 2 and 3 collapsed at the railway station in Bhopal.
Chief Public Relations Officer, West Central Railway, Jabalpur, Priyanka Dixit, said that “One of the injured persons was reported critical who was referred to the government-run Hamidia hospital in Bhopal.”
IA Siddiqui, Railway PRO, said that “A small portion of the slab of the footover bridge collapsed. 8 people are injured. There have been no grievous injuries, there is no casualty either. We will investigate the matter and action will be taken against the people responsible for it.”
He also added that “A team of doctors and railway is looking after the injured. They are being given medical help.” He further said that “They will be given compensation as per the rules of the railways, depending on the injury as stated by doctors’ report.”
While talking about collapse of portion of a footover bridge at Bhopal railway station, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath said in a tweet that he was saddened over the tragedy in which several people were injured. He also wished a quick recovery for those injured. Meanwhile, Kamal Nath directed the local administration to provide all assistance and treatment to the injured persons.
