Biopic on ‘PM Modi’ releasing on May 24
Biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi starring Vivek Oberoi will now arrive in theatres on May 24, 2019, just a day after the announcement of the Lok Sabha election results.

The Supreme Court on April 26 announced that Election Commission's order to ban on a biopic on PM Narendra Modi is valid. The apex court refused to interfere with the Election Commission's order to ban the release of the biopic until May 19. A Bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said it was not inclined to entertain the application filed by producers of biopic challenging the EC's order.
The Election Commission (EC) submitted its report in a sealed cover on the biopic to the Supreme Court on April 24 in which it said that its decision to defer the release of the biographical film on Prime Minister Narendra Modi was valid.

According to the media reports, the poll body said that there is a high probability that a particular political party would be able to influence voters if this movie is released. It further wrote in its reports that EC is justified in its decision to release the film after the last phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections on May 19.

Media reports further reveal that the movie revolves around popularizing the main character. It also portrays him as a leader with a no-compromise approach. It has also directed the EC counsel to share the report with the film’s producer, who had moved the apex court challenging the Commission’s decision to ban its release despite getting the nod of the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC).
