Bulandshahr: 15-year-old Dalit girl set on fire; dies in Delhi hospital

Bulandshahr Dalit Girl Raped and Set on Fire: In yet another shocker, a 15-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly set on fire in Bulandshahr on Tuesday. She died at Delhi’s RML Hospital later in the day, the police said.

According to the police, the girl was allegedly raped by a local resident. Later, her family was pressurized to withdraw her complaint.

As per the report, an FIR was filed by the family. The family members said that around 7 people entered their home and set the girl on fire using petrol.

Meanwhile, a video of the Bulandshahr victim in a hospital went viral on social media. She can be heard saying that there was an ongoing case of molestation by the same people who came to her home.

The Bulandshahr SSP Santosh Kumar Singh said that in August, a Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a man. He was arrested and the accused was currently in jail.

On Tuesday, the police received information that the Dalit girl has been set on fire in Bulandshahr. The police said that till 11 pm, it appeared that she had attempted suicide. However, the family complained that seven people tried to immolate her.

Meanwhile, all seven people have been booked while three have been arrested so far.

According to the Bulandshahr victim’s family, those accused of setting her on fire are relatives and acquaintances of the accused. He was charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and SC/SC Act.
