Cab driver allegedly tries to kidnap woman judge, Delhi HC writes to govt

In yet another incident, a woman judge on Monday alleged that a cab driver attempted to kidnap her while driving her to a court in New Delhi. This incident has prompted the Delhi High Court to intervene in the matter and communicate its concerns regarding safety of woman judges to the government. The woman judge hired a cab at 10 am on Monday to go from her residence in central Delhi to Karkardooma court when the incident took place. The cab driver changed the route along the way, and instead of taking a turn towards Mayur Vihar, he kept driving straight ahead, towards Uttar Pradesh, as per the information received by her. The judge then called the police and complained against the driver. Sensing trouble, the driver then took a U-turn and started driving back to Delhi. The police then started tracking the location of the vehicle through the judge’s cell phone and found the car at Ghazipur toll plaza and arrested the driver. The driver has been charged with kidnapping. However, he has claimed that he had missed a left turn on the route and thus decided to keep going straight ahead but could not find a left turn. -PTC News
