Canadian University to setup satellite centre at Skill University Chamkaur Sahib: Channi
Canadian delegations calls on Technical Education Minister Channi for developing Skill and providing Job opportunities to Youth of Punjab
To develop Skill and provide job opportunities to the Youth of Punjab the Candadian delegation of Alberta State called on Punjab Technical Education & Industrial Training and Employment Generation Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi here at his official residence.
Disclosing about the discussion with the delegation Technical Education Minister said that Ms. Sheba Sharma Senior Director, Alberta Government & Mr. Sudhirranjan Banerjee Commercial Officer Alberta Government held preliminary talks regarding developing skill, starting dual skill development programmes and providing job opportunities in Canada to the Youth of Punjab.

He said that in principle both the sides agreed to setup a Satellite Centre by the Canadian University at upcoming Guru Gobind Singh Skill University, Sri Chamkaur Sahib. He said that rules and regulation draft would be prepared to send Youth of the state to study abroad through Punjab Government’s web portal ‘Gahr Ghar Rozgar’. Draft regarding this would be placed for discussion and approval in the next meeting with the Canadian delegation.

‘Alberta State of Canada is interested in starting dual skill development programmes with the Punjab Government Technical Educational Institutes, IKGPTU and MRSPTU’, said Channi.
The Minister further said that during his visit to Alberta, Canada, he met Minister for Higher Education & Skill Development Alberta Government and both agreed to work together in the field of Skill Development. Now they have sent their delegation for preliminary talks with the Punjab Government. He said that the programmes would be finalized with the officials of the Alberta State, Canada in the coming days. He said that a delegation from Alberta State Canada would be visiting India in Feburary, 2019 and the agreement would be signed with them during their visit.

Others prominent present in the meeting included Mr. DK Tewari Secretary Technical Education, Mr. Chander Gaind Secretary Technical Education Board, Mr. Parveen Thind Director Technical Education, Mr. Sandeep Kaura Advisor Skill Development, Mr. Ajay Sharma Vice Chancellor IKGPTU, Mr. Mohan Pal Singh Isher Vice Chancellor MRSPTU and other senior officials of the technical education department.
