Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of distinguished Agriculture Scientist Dr. Dilbagh Singh Athwal, who passed away in USA. In his condolence message, the Chief Minister recalled the stellar role of Dr. Athwal, the father of the global Green Revolution, in making India self-reliant in food production. He said Dr. Athwal’s outstanding contribution in bringing glory not only to Indian agriculture but also at the international level would be remembered by one and all. Captain Amarinder said Dr. Athwal's unique contribution in heralding the green revolution in Punjab would always remain a source of inspiration for budding agriculture scientists to excel further in the arena of agricultural research and development. Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the members of bereaved family, the Chief Minister prayed to Almighty to give the courage in their hour of grief and grant eternal peace to the departed soul. —PTC News-
