Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday announced that he will form his own political party, which is likely to ally with the BJP. He also said that he will reach out to the farmers for the forthcoming Punjab Assembly elections 2022.
During an exclusive interview with a news channel, Captain Amarinder Singh hinted that the prolonged farmers’ protest against three farm laws may be heading towards a resolution soon, with the government soon holding talks with farmers' representatives.
His decision on allying with BJP would depend on a satisfactory resolution of the farm laws issue. Former Punjab CM said that he was “looking forward to fighting” and his target was to “form the government”.
This is for the first time Captain Amarinder has made his future plans public after being 'ousted' by the Congress party.
Earlier, there were speculations that Captain might be joining BJP to which he had clarified that neither he will join BJP nor he will stay in Congress.
But now, he said that he would “like an alliance” with the BJP.
