Captain won't remain CM after Lok Sabha poll: Sukhbir Badal

Shiromani Akali Dal president Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal today that Captain Amarinder Singh will no longer remain the CM of Punjab after the Congress debacle in the Lok Sabha elections. "This election will see the end of Amarinder's career and he knows it. That is why he has already started naming his successors so that he can have a man of his choice still in saddle after he is thrown out, " said Mr Badal, adding that the other objective Amarinder wants to achieve by naming Sunil Jakhar as his successor is to ensure his defeat by antagonising the local Congress satraps like Partap Singh Bajwa etc. "Captain Sahib actually wants someone dependent on him to succeed him. But only one thing is certain at this stage and that is that Amarinder will not remain the CM after the Congress debacle in Punjab in these elections and this will draw curtain on his political career. hence the desperation in his outbursts against Akalis," said the Akali chief. Mr Badal dared the Amarinder Singh to make his performance and fulfilment of his manifesto promises the main plank in the ongoing Lok Sabha poll. " I know he won't do this and will keep trying to hide behind false accusations on other issues.. "But his game is up." Mr Badal said that Amarinder himself was aware that his inaccessibility, invisibility and his betrayals of the people have ensured that the Congress will fall flat in Punjab." He has stabbed the people in the back and that too after making commitments on a sacred oath in the name of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji. Naturally, he is scared to seek a verdict of the people on his own government and everybody knows why, " said Mr Badal during the course of his interaction with the party workers and people in Bathinda, Patiala, Anandpur Sahib and Ferozepur constituencies. Later in a statement, Mr Badal said that the failures of and betrayal by Amarinder still remained the main issues for the people of Punjab in these Lok Sabha elections."Amarinder is trying run away from facing the people on two years of his mis-governance. He is trying desperately to shift the focus to other issues. But he will have to face the wrath of the people on the insulting and inhuman manner in which he has treated them over the past two years," Mr Badal said. Mr. Badal said that the present government in Punjab was “the worst and the most inefficient in the history of the state, and perhaps the most “useless and worthless” (nakhidh te nikkami) state government in the country since independence. The list of promises made and broken by Amarinder was indeed long, said Mr Badal, adding that the CM did not implement a complete debt waiver for all farmers as promised, nor did he raise pension from Rs 500 to Rs 25,00 and Shagun amount from 15000 to 51000. Neither did he fulfill his promise of jobs to at least one member in every household nor allowance of Rs 2500 to every unemployed youth. On the contrary, he has stopped all the development works and welfare schemes started by the Akali-BJP regime.
