Cash, liquor, psychotropic substances and valuables worth Rs. 283 crore seized in Punjab after enforcement of code: CEO,Chandigarh,: After Enforcement of Model Code of Conduct come in the state in view of Lok Sabha polls, the enforcement teams have seized cash, liquor, psychotropic substances and valuables worth Rs. 283 crore in violation of code till May 16, 2019. Giving details in this regard, the Chief Electoral Officer Dr. S Karuna Raju said that the surveillance teams had seized 1351369 litres of liquor worth Rs 10 crore. Similarly, the enforcement wings have also recovered 8102 kg psychotropic substances amounting to Rs 218 crore and valuable like ( Gold, Silver etc) amounting to Rs. 22.56 crore besides confiscating unaccounted cash of Rs 32.07 crore, he added. The Chief Electoral Officer revealed that 3743 persons have been identified, who can create disturbance, said he adding that out of these persons action had already been initiated against 3749 while the remaining would also be brought to book. He informed there were 400 non bailable warrant cases under process in the state of which action had been initiated against 4855 persons under non bailable warrants after the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct. As per the directions of the election commission, Dr. Raju said till date 97% licensed weapons had been surrendered and 142 illegal arms and 873 illegal ammunitions were also confiscated in the state. He further said that 2277 complaints found correct out of 3855 complaints received on cVigil App. -PTC News
