Amid a spike in coronavirus cases, the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) has decided to stop operating long route buses to Punjab and Haryana from June 13. In an order issued by the Chandigarh Administration Transport Department, it has been stated that in view of an increase in the number of cases of COVID-19, it has been decided by the Chandigarh Administration that the Inter-State operation of CTU and other STUs will remain suspended from tomorrow. Welcoming the decision, the citizens took to social media to share their opinion about the decision. A user wrote: "Good decision, hope this will reduce infection across boundaries." Likewise, another user said, "I don't think everything is okay within the Chandigarh administration in this epidemic of COVID-19." The user further suggested the Administrator to not get confused and focus more on testing. The consent given to other states for operating inter-state buses to bring passengers to Chandigarh will be withdrawn. On the other hand, all passengers coming by trains will be screened on arrival and advised self-quarantine of 14 days.
