Man robbed of scooter, jewellery; dumped in forest at Maloya
A goldsmith riding an Acitva was intercepted by unidentified miscreants and kidnapped at gunpoint on Thursday night. The man was robbed of his scooter and gold jewellery and was then released in a forest area at Maloya.
The victim, Sanjay Poli, a resident of Sector 25, reported that he was returning on his Activa scooter when the miscreants riding on three motorcycles intercepted him on the rear side of a government school in Sector 52.
The accused threatened the victim and forced him to sit on one of the motorcycles.
“The accused threatened the victim and asked him to give all money he had. The accused robbed him of his gold ring, a gold kara and an earring,” the sources said.
After nearly two hours, the accused released the victim and escaped from the spot. Before fleeing, they tied his hands and legs.
The police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation.
The victim’s statement was recorded and a case under Sections 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person), 395 (dacoity) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the unknown persons at the Sector 36 police station.
