Chandigarh along with other states begin process to implement Anand Marriage Act

The state governments of Maharashtra and Rajasthan and Union Territory Chandigarh have initiated process to implement Anand Marriage Act in their respective territories. This was disclosed by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) General Secretary Mr.Manjinder Singh Sirsa. In a statement issued here today, Mr. Sirsa disclosed that he has received communications from state governments of Maharashtra and Rajashtan and well as from UT Chandigarh that process to implement this act has been initiated in their terriroties. He said that he had taken up issue of implementation of the act with the Maharashtra Chief Minister Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, Rajasthan Chief Minister Mrs. Vasundhra Raje and Governor Punjab and UT Administrator Mr. VP Singh Badnore and it was after their directions that now path has been cleared for implemented of act in these states and UT Chandigarh. He said that Mr. RD Rawat Legal Advisor cum Joint Secretary Law and Judiciary department Govt of Maharashtra  has informed him that Pubic Health Department of the Government which deals with the issue has been directed to ensure implementation of the act and also inform Government of India on this matter. Mr. Sirsa said that similarly Seema Kumar Deputy Secretary Home Government of Rajasthan has informed him that Law and Legal Affairs department is working on implementation of Anand Marriage Act in the state and it will come into force soon. Chandigarh begin process to implement Anand Marriage Act He also disclosed that now Chandigarh administration is all set to implement the act. He said that Additional Secretary Home Chandigarh has also confirmed the same that process is near completion to implement the act. The DSGMC General Secretary expressed satisfaction that now act has been implemented in majority of states of India including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jharkhand, Mehghalaya, Himachal Pradesh etc. as per the wish of the Shiromani Akali Dal President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal and he was hopeful that by the end of the current year this will be implemented in all the states of the country. -PTC News-
